Reduction of organizations confident to be visible to the public

A decision was made during late 2001 to withdraw this web site for a period, due to legal changes that allowed an arrest warrant issued in many countries to be applied within the UK without evidence or leave from a British court. Many of the groups, being naturally suspicious of how religious extremists or politicians or media in need of support somewhere could so easily create a witch hunt decided to withdraw all their sites.

Within most groups, currently we have a difference of opinion as to the visibility of craft groups.

Aqua, and some of the leaders of some groups feel that we should be visible, and allow people to find out both what we stand for and that we are no danger to anyone, and can help many people. Also that factual information would bring a level of reality to the rise in cultural magic on TV and films. Aqua has advised that any solution we choose must meet everyone's approval.

The opposing view held currently by the majority, is that craft groups are free standing communities that do not need outsiders, that exposure puts groups and members at risk, and the variety of TV shows, films and media mania over various topics mean that few will see us for what we are, and public opinion could be lead at any time by rumour, and damage done could not be undone. 

Solution

The compromise solution has been for each group to be able to decide for itself, but all contact information relating to individuals or locations of groups to be removed from sites that do go live again. The school of witchcraft site is being rewritten. 

Reduced size sites, that are on line now or are about to be

www.Water-witches.com  water witches public site.  Some covens have their own sites, and there are some special purpose sites, but these have never been included within search engines. Personal information should be removed if it has not already been. Now live and includes a new introductory course as well

Fire Angels - Female only fire Witches. Also an expensive section on becoming and remaining happy, that does not include witchcraft, this was added for those who are seeking happiness as opposed to a lifestyle or path. This section is relevant to all groups. (New public site taking over the old UK site from this association), new section on relationships also added.

Country Herbalists and Green Witches  This very large site now comprise the major witchcraft portal and wisdom database. this is covers on the witchpages page on this site. Information on this group will be able to be selected from the left hand menu selections of the wisdom selection of the site on loading. The portal part is running ad wisdom side growing.

Wisecraft site at www.witchesweb.org is approaching completion and should be live soon.

Magnetic Cyclone Group (Meeting end of October to decide on date of site becoming available again).

Primitive Druids 1955 Group (New smaller version, final decision on date not yet made).

Celtic Christians  (decided to launch new site - but still has to be written).

Holistic Witches who were previously known as the Old Wessex Holism Society, (they say a new site is most likely next year).

http://www.hedge-witch.com Co-operative site for hedge witches to share information and advice. Looks if it will be good as more information gets added.

Most other groups have not yet decided if to put sites back on line. The current favorite idea is to slim sites down, remove all contact information on individuals and move a lot of the information many contained to the school of witchcraft site. This is taking place by some other groups who we have not listed, but they did not want to be listed again until a decision has general support within the group.

Others will be added as they come on line or just before so please call back again.

The research page may announce projects in advance of any decision to put them on the web, therefore the inclusion within the research page should not be taken to indicate that the information will at any point be published on a web site. We appreciate that telling you on the research page who is managing a project is not of great help without telling you how to contact them, but hopefully this situation will be resolved in the future. We are hoping in the longer term to get far more onto the school of witchcraft site, although some ethical discussions are still in hand on some topic areas.

www.School-of-witchcraft.com site being redeveloped to include a great deal more. This will become a far larger site than when last live, but it is also being redeveloped as the initial method of adding to sections, to cover all views, made many course segments too heavy and some students found having the philosophies of different groups including some outside the association, created confusion. We are not sure when this will be back fully live. A smaller sub system of the site may be made available at some point soon. There is a separate page about this project.
